In recent months, Bluesky has been steadily climbing the social media ranks and has emerged as a popular alternative to X. Showing no signs of slowing down, Bluesky’s user base has surpassed 20 million signups, which – while still considerably smaller than audiences on X and Threads – has been pinpointed as a considerable traffic source to online publications.

The reports make it known that if you want to increase your business’ engagement, signing up for Bluesky is a smart choice. This said, every site is different, and with lots of social media channels to juggle, it’s important to monitor your own relationships with Bluesky to know where to focus your efforts. In this article, I’ll show you how to keep tabs on your website’s traffic sources so you can monitor which channels your visitors are most engaged with.

How To See Your Site’s Traffic From Bluesky

Google Analytics provides a plethora of information on the ways that visitors have accessed your site, including the users that are directed to your site from a link on another site.

For instance, if your business, or any other profile, shares a link to your site on Bluesky, you can track the amount of visitors it brings you.

To do this on Google Analytics simply:

  1. Select the “Acquisition” tab on the left sidebar
  2. Click “Traffic acquisition”
  3. In the dropdown underneath the search bar, click “Session source/ medium”

From this page, you can see a list of sites linking to yours. Simply find Bluesky on that list, and look at the “Sessions” column to see the amount of website visits you’ve had from Bluesky.

This is also a great way to compare the traffic brought to you by multiple sources, such as different social media platforms. When you select the blue tick boxes to the left of the domain names you want to compare, they’ll be pulled into a graph at the top of the page, which gives you a clear indication of the sites you could be investing more or less time into.

Website Traffic From Bluesky Soars

Businesses have been reporting huge spikes in engagement and conversions when posting on Bluesky. Here’s what they’ve been saying:

“Traffic from Bluesky […] is already 3x that of Threads, and we are seeing 4.5x the conversions to paying digital subscribers.”
