Google has introduced QR codes to Google Business Profiles, helping businesses request and gather customer reviews easily. With GBP reviews disappearing in February, it’s interesting to see Google unveil a new feature to boost review counts.
It’s not the first time that QR codes have been available from Google, but they’re now easily accessible, and you can create them directly from your profile.
So, how can you get started with Google’s QR codes, and why are they so important for businesses?
Google Announces QR Feature
The Google Business Profile account on X announced the new tool for businesses on March 4, 2025:
“You can now create easy-to-scan QR codes that take customers directly to your GBP, encouraging them to leave more reviews. On your desktop, go to your Business Profile and click on “ask for reviews”. Follow the instructions to generate a link or a QR code. Voila!”

Lisa Landsman, Global Business Development at Google, also commented on the new feature:
“We all know how critical reviews are for your business’ reputation. Now you can create easy-to-scan QR codes that take customers directly to your Google Business Profile, encouraging them to leave more reviews. Rather than having to take the link from GBP and put them into a QR code generator, you can do this all in one place!”
➡️ Google also updated its Google Business Profile guidelines at the end of November 2024, specifically targeting businesses selling minimum-age goods. Check out the new rules if you haven’t already.
How To Create Your QR Code
To set up a QR code for customer reviews, simply navigate to your Business profile on Google. From there, click “Read Reviews” before selecting “Get more reviews.”
You’ll then see an image like the screenshot from the section above. This will provide you with shareable links when requesting feedback. At the bottom of the pop-up page, you’ll see a Google-generated QR code for your business.
The Importance of Customer Feedback
Google is the number one platform people use for reading reviews, so requesting and responding to customer reviews via Google should be an essential part of running your online business. Here are some of the main benefits:
- Hear from real customers – Gain valuable insights into what they like and dislike about your business, products, or services
- Boost visibility for your brand – If you’re actively receiving and responding to feedback, your business will appear popular to others
- Reviews impact SEO – Search engines, like Google, use reviews when assessing rankings in search engine results pages (SERPs)
- Build trust and credibility – Positive reviews are a clear sign that people recommend your business, which can influence your brand’s reputation online
- Engage with your community – Reviews are a great channel for business owners to connect with loyal followers (by responding, you can show that your business wants to listen and learn from feedback)
You can take all of this customer feedback to help shape future strategies and products in order to engage with your target audience more effectively. Customers trust other customers, meaning they’re more likely to shop with your business if other consumers have already given their stamp of approval.
So, we know customer feedback is important, but we also know it can be hard to ask customers to leave reviews. That’s why providing prompts and easy ways for them to do so is key. Have you used a QR code to request feedback from customers before? Let us know in the comments!
