Powered by the Veo 2 AI model, Google has rolled out another new YouTube Shorts feature in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. Now, content creators have a range of AI tools at their fingertips, making it easier to generate new video content for their channels.

If you’re eager to test out these YouTube Shorts features for your business, I’ll be showing you what you can achieve with Google’s AI tools at your disposal, and give you some tips on how to create AI content that doesn’t sacrifice quality or result in any dreaded AI slop!

What Are YouTube Short’s New AI Features?

These additional AI features expand upon Dream Screen, YouTube’s current AI tool that helps creators bring their visions to life through eye-catching visuals.

The new features you can access from your editor include:

  • Generating video backgrounds – In the YouTube app, you can select the “Green screen” option to generate a unique background for your videos. Once you’ve filled in a short prompt detailing what you want your background to contain, the Dream Screen will provide you with a series of options to choose from.
  • Creating standalone clips – You can also use the AI to generate unique clips to add to your shorts. By filling in a prompt and choosing which artistic style you’d like to apply, YouTube will create a clip in under 60 seconds. You can also regenerate a clip if you’re not satisfied with the finished result.

💡 Top Tip!

To keep your branding consistent, make sure that you pick an artistic style that aligns with your brand guidelines. You don’t want to confuse audiences!

Curious about what these features might look like? The video below will give you a short taster:

What You Should Know About Creating AI Content

While you may be eager to give these AI tools a go and use them to enhance your video marketing strategy, there are a few things you should know first.

Though you can certainly use these tools to add some interest to your video content, I don’t recommend creating your YouTube Shorts entirely out of AI clips. AI content has a reputation for appearing too polished, to the point of looking uncanny or unrealistic, so I wouldn’t rely on using AI generated imagery just yet. For now, view it more as a tool that can enhance your videos.

💡 Top Tip!

As a creator, you should avoid creating “AI slop,” which describes low-quality content that doesn’t add any value to viewers. When creating new videos, always plan ahead and think of a clear concept for each piece of content. Whether you’re offering entertainment or informative content, your Shorts should enhance your audience’s user experience.

Of course, this isn’t to say that you can’t introduce more AI imagery to your content as the tool continues to improve over time. These tools may even help you streamline your operations, helping you create content if you’re ever running low on time, money, or resources.

Just remember to be transparent with your viewers and clearly signify when you’ve used AI. This will also help you build trust with your audience and form long-term viewers.

But now, if you’re ready to try out the new AI tools, they’re available from your YouTube app in the editor – happy creating!
